How to use The Chronicle
Everything you need to know to get your party set up.
Getting Started
You're running the campaign
You're the GM. You'll create the campaign, set the game system, generate an invite code, and manage sessions. Your players join through you. Follow the Game Masters section below.
You're joining a campaign
Your GM already has a campaign set up and will give you an invite code. You'll join, build your character, and connect to the live session when it starts. Follow the Players section below.
For Game Masters
Create a campaign
From your dashboard, click "New Campaign". Give it a name and choose your game system (Pathfinder 2e, D&D 5e, or Generic).
Invite your players
Each campaign has a unique invite code. Share it with your players and they'll send a join request you can approve or reject.
Create a session
From the campaign page, create a new session when you're ready to play. Add session notes: anything marked as GM-only is hidden from players.
Start the session
When everyone's at the table, activate the session. The live party board goes live and you can see everyone's HP and conditions in real time.
Keep your notes
After the session, your notes stay saved on the session page. Build up your campaign history over time.
For Players
Join a campaign
From your dashboard, click "Join Campaign" and paste in the invite code your GM gave you. Your GM will approve your request.
Create your character
Once you're in, create a character and assign it to the campaign. Fill out your sheet: stats, saving throws, skills, spells, inventory, and currency.
Join the session
When your GM starts a session, it'll appear on the campaign page. Join it to connect to the live party board.
Update your status live
During play, keep your HP and conditions updated. Your GM and party can see your status in real time.
Check session notes
After the session, any notes your GM shared will be available on the session page.
Tips
Invite codes
Invite codes are valid for 7 days. Generate a new one from your campaign page if yours has expired.
GM notes
Anything you write as GM-only stays invisible to players. Use it freely for plot, NPCs, and secrets.
Systems
The character sheet adapts to your game system. PF2e and D&D 5e get full dedicated fields; Generic works for anything else.
